This all depends on what you are looking to see! Some mothers like to come in twice: early on, between 22 and 27 weeks, when they can see the baby as a whole, and then again between 28 and 34 weeks to see a more detailed face. Our favorite time is between 28 and 32 weeks, when your baby has developed some fat and has a defined face—you can really see what he or she looks like! After 34 weeks, it becomes more difficult to obtain good pictures since baby is running out of room. However, all babies are different and we have been successful in obtaining great images all the way up to 39 weeks!
What is your policy on rescheduling or not showing up for an appointment?
Baby Blessings understands unexpected things happen and the need to reschedule on occasion. We are flexible and will be glad to adjust your visit to a future date and time accommodating for you and your guests. As a common courtesy we require notification of rescheduling or cancellation at least 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to arrive within 30 minutes of your appointment time and no contact to Baby Blessings has been made, Baby Blessings reserves the right to cancel the appointment. A $10 non refundable rescheduling fee will be incurred upon rescheduling and MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE. Reminder texts of an ultrasound session are sent the day before as a courtesy. Because of this, in the event of a no call no show rescheduling with Baby Blessings is not guaranteed and future services may be denied.
What can I do to prepare for my ultrasound to help ensure quality images?
3D/4D images are best when Mommy is well hydrated. Please remember to drink plenty of water, this week especially, as good fluid levels are so very important in obtaining pictures of your baby! Drink plenty of water everyday, not just the day of your appointment. Please eat or drink something naturally sugary or sweet like bananas, mango's, or orange juice 10-15 minutes before your session (unless you are under a diet restriction). This tends to wake baby up and give you a better chance for different views!
How much of a difference will hydration make in the image quality?
The image at the bottom of the page shows the difference in quality that can occur between good hydration and inadequate hydration. This is why it is so important for adequate hydration during the course of a pregnancy.
Will I always get a “perfect” picture of my baby?
Usually, but not always. There are many factors that influence image quality, including fetal position, amount of amniotic fluid and amount of maternal tissue. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible pictures of your baby. If your baby remains “uncooperative” throughout your entire session, it may be necessary to repeat the scan at a later date when the position has changed. This is at the discretion of the sonographer and is of course, free of charge. We want our clients to be happy with your images and encourage you to share any concerns with us prior to leaving your session.
Is it safe? Are there any risks to me or to my baby?
Ultrasound has been performed and studied for over 30 years during which time no evidence has shown any harm to baby or mother. The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) officially states “No confirmed biological effects on patients or instrument operators caused by exposure at intensities typical of present diagnostic ultrasound equipment have ever been reported.” To ensure the safety and comfort of both mom and baby, Baby Blessings abides by FDA guidelines regarding the recommend time limits for ultrasounds and scanning duration.
Is the 3d/4d imaging session covered by my insurance?
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the ultrasound, insurance companies do not cover the cost of the imaging session as they are considered elective and for keepsake purposes only. Payment is expected at the time of your appointment. We accept cash, checks, debit cards, and credit cards. We also have gift certificates available!
Can I bring guests to my imaging session?
Your friends and family members are always welcome! This appointment is for your pleasure! We have extra seating and some standing room available.
How long does it take?
Though scan times do not usually exceed 30 minutes, plan to spend up to an hour in case your baby is uncooperative and to select and print the best images from your session.
Does this take the place of an ultrasound at my doctors office?
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Clients receiving a 3d/4d ultrasound at Baby Blessings must be under the current care of a healthcare provider. Confirmation of prenatal care will be required at the time of your exam as well. You can bring an ultrasound image from your doctors office or a note. At no time are the ultrasounds performed at our facility to be used for diagnostic purposes. Ultrasounds performed by Baby Blessings 3D & 4D Ultrasound Studio are non-medical in nature and may be performed in conjunction to other prenatal care being received by your doctor. Although measurements may be taken during your visit to gauge what features may be seen during the session, our staff can not provide a medical diagnosis, or conclusions regarding the pregnancy.
